Rand Paul Mocks Idea That NSA Dragnet Necessary: Why Not 'Put A Microchip In Every Baby Born?'
(June 12, 2013) - Appearing on CNN with host Jake Tapper on Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) mocked the notion that the National Security Agency's monitoring all Americans' communications were essential because they have prevented some attacks. He noted that you could curtail most criminality by putting microchips in newborns or installing cameras in all apartments, but that would be unconstitutional.
Tapper asked Paul to react to testimony delivered by National Security Agency Director Gen. Keith Alexander in which he said that the NSA's phone records program led to preventing a terrorist plot to attack the subway system in New York City.
Paul said that the credibility of the nation's intelligence community is presently in doubt. "They frankly lied to us in open testimony in committee," Paul said.
"I'm not opposed to searching the phone records of people we think are terrorists," he continued. "But that does not require the phone records of everybody who makes a call in this country. That, I think, is a generalized warrant and unconstitutional."
"Even though we're trolling through a billion phone calls a day, we're still having attacks because of poor police work," he continued. "Those who argue, 'Well, we can catch people if we just do this,' if we put a microchip in every baby born we could follow everybody better. Or, if we said, 'well, all crime is committed by people who live in apartments; why don't we put cameras in everyone's apartments?'"

The CIA’s deputy director plans to resign and will be replaced by White House lawyer and agency outsider Avril D. Haines, Director John O. Brennan said Wednesday. Haines, who will succeed career officer Michael Morell on Aug. 9, has served for three years as President Obama’s deputy counsel in charge of national security issues and as legal adviser to the National Security Council. Although she has never worked inside the intelligence agency, “she knows more about covert action than anyone in the U.S. government outside of the CIA,” Brennan said his first interview since becoming CIA director in March.

Colorado Considers Secession
Residents of the northeastern section of the state of Colorado believe that it should constitute a new, 51st state, according to ABC News.
Sean Conway is Colorado's Weld County Commissioner. He told ABC News that folks in his neck of the woods feel "ignored and disenfranchised" by the state government. How so, Mr. Conway? Well, the Colorado State Senate Bill 252 is the absolute "last straw" in "threatening their way of life," he says.
The trouble with Senate Bill 252, according to the commissioner and others, is that it creates renewable energy sources in the state. Yes. You read that right.
According to Conway, SB252 would raise power rates for rural Coloradans while expressly exempting municipal entities from similar rate hikes.
"If you are going to impose mandates, impose them on everybody," Conway told ABC News. "I think [this is] just one more example of the disconnect happening in the state of Colorado [between urban and rural areas]...it isn't a Democrat or a Republican thing."

(South China Morning Post) Surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden has spoken for the first time since blowing his own cover in an exclusive interview with the South China Morning Post.
The ex-CIA analyst has been holed up in secret locations in Hong Kong since fleeing Hawaii ahead of highly sensitive leaks revealing details of US top-secret phone and internet surveillance of its citizens.
Snowden's actions have been both praised and condemned globally.
But he told Post reporter Lana Lam: "I'm neither traitor nor hero. I'm an American."

The 29-year-old was working for defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton at the National Security Agency (NSA), the biggest spy surveillance organisation in the world, when he leaked information claiming the US was systematically seizing vast amounts of phone and web data. Snowden fled to Hong Kong after using Britain's Guardian newspaper to expose the agency's PRISM program which gives officials easy access to data held by nine of the world's top internet companies, including Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Skype.

It is believed the US is pursuing a criminal investigation, but no extradition request has yet been filed. Hong Kong has an extradition treaty with the US, although analysts say any attempts to bring Mr Snowden to America may take months and could be blocked by Beijing.
His actions have been both praised and condemned globally, with some hailing him a hero while others a traitor. Some senators have accused Snowden of treason.

Turkey On The Brink : Ezekiel 38 Prophecy
Ezekiel 34:13, 36:24, 37:12, 38:8, and 39:27-28 all talk about the Jews being re-gathered out from the nations of the world back into the Holy Land of Israel. By the time one reads through Ezekiel 34-39 they are left with the indelible impression that in the last days, the Jews will be re-gathered into Israel. There is absolutely no way to draw any other conclusion!
Therefore, it stands to reason contextually that because Ezekiel 35 is huddled in the midst of the above chapters, it must have some association with the Jews, Israel, and the end times. Pivotally Ezekiel 35:5, which will be displayed below, informs that the Arabs possess an ancient hatred of the Jews that prompts Arabs to shed Jewish blood in the end times. Presuming mankind has been plunged into this final perilous period, a comprehensive study of Ezekiel 35 should underscore the present Arab-Israeli predicament in the Middle East. Below is a verse by verse study of Ezekiel 35.
Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir and prophesy against it, and say to it, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, O Mount Seir, I am against you; I will stretch out My hand against you, And make you most desolate; I shall lay your cities waste, And you shall be desolate. Then you shall know that I am the LORD. ((Ezekiel 35:1-4, NKJV; emphasis added).
Ezekiel begins with the word “moreover,” which implies a continuation from the previous chapter 34. Ezekiel 34, concluded with an end-times’ depiction of the Jews being re-gathered into Israel, restored as God’s people, and being blessed. From other Scriptures, we recognize that Israel becomes blessed during the messianic kingdom, but before this is re-gathered in a condition of unbelief in preparation for judgment.

Ex-CIA employee, Edward Snowden, working as a contractor at the U.S. National Security Agency says he leaked details of a top secret U.S. surveillance program, Prism, acting out of conscience to protect "basic liberties for people around the world."
The National Security Agency has obtained direct access to the systems of Google, Facebook, Apple and other US internet giants, according to a top secret document obtained by the Guardian.
The NSA access is part of a previously undisclosed program called PRISM, which allows officials to collect material including search history, the content of emails, file transfers and live chats, the document says.
The Guardian has verified the authenticity of the document, a 41-slide PowerPoint presentation -- classified as top secret with no distribution to foreign allies -- which was apparently used to train intelligence operatives on the capabilities of the program. The document claims "collection directly from the servers" of major US service providers.
