Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is on the way out the door, but the consequences of the bond bubble that he has helped to create will stay with us for a very, very long time. During Bernanke's tenure, interest rates on U.S. Treasuries have fallen to record lows. This has enabled the U.S. government to pile up an extraordinary amount of debt. During his tenure we have also seen mortgage rates fall to record lows. All of this has helped to spur economic activity in the short-term, but what happens when interest rates start going back to normal? If the average rate of interest on U.S. government debt rises to just 6 percent, the U.S. government will suddenly be paying out a trillion dollars a year just in interest on the national debt. And remember, there have been times in the past when the average rate of interest on U.S. government debt has been much higher than that. In addition, when the U.S. government starts having to pay more to borrow money so will everyone else. What will that do to home sales and car sales? And of course we all remember what happened to adjustable rate mortgages when interest rates started to rise just prior to the last recession. We have gotten ourselves into a position where the U.S. economy simply cannot afford for interest rates to go up. We have become addicted to the cheap money made available by a grossly distorted financial system, and we have Ben Bernanke to thank for that. The Federal Reserve is at the very heart of the economic problems that we are facing in America, and this time is certainly no exception.
This week Barack Obama publicly praised Ben Bernanke and stated that Bernanke has "already stayed a lot longer than he wanted" as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. Bernanke's term ends on January 31st, but many observers believe that he could leave even sooner than that. Bernanke appears to be tired of the job and eager to move on.
So who would replace him? Well, the mainstream media is making it sound like the appointment of Janet Yellen is already a forgone conclusion. She would be the first woman ever to chair the Federal Reserve, and her philosophy is that a little bit of inflation is good for an economy. It seems likely that she would continue to take us down the path that Bernanke has taken us.
But is it a fundamentally sound path? Keeping interest rates pressed to the floor and wildly printing money may be producing some positive results in the short-term, but the crazy bubble that this is creating will burst at some point. In fact, the director of financial stability for the Bank of England, Andy Haldane, recently admitted that the central bankers have "intentionally blown the biggest government bond bubble in history" and he warned about what might happen once it ends...

Earth Changes Evidence for Catastrophe ~ Lawrence Joseph
Author Lawrence Joseph discussed how a variety of knowledge he gathered from around the world led him to conclude that humankind is soon to face major earth changes and catastrophe. Storms and intense activity on the sun are on the rise and connected with quakes and upheaval on the Earth, he said. For instance, in September 2005 there were unprecedented storms on the sun, and this was also the time of hurricanes such as Katrina and Rita.
Meeting with Russian scientists in Siberia, he was told that our entire Solar System is passing through an interstellar energy cloud and this would bring on a global cataclysm within less thana decade. He also investigated the deterioration of the Earth's magnetic field, interviewing scientists at a South African Magnetic Observatory.
The Mayans had a precise system of astronomy, and their calendar which ends in 2012, completed the largest cycle of time they could graph, Joseph noted. They saw the center of our galaxy as a navel, and warned of a great disruption on Earth when the Sun aligns with the galactic center, he explained. As to the time frame for such an event, one shaman told him it would happen like "the deepening of twilight."

the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration now predicts that the solar
maximum will peak in May 2013, not 2012, and that it will be fairly weak, with a
below-average number of sunspots. In any case, there is no scientific evidence
linking a solar maximum to a geomagnetic reversal, which is driven by forces entirely
within the Earth. Instead, a solar maximum would be mostly notable for its effects
on satellite and cellular phone communications. David Morrison attributes the rise
of the solar storm idea to physicist and science popularizer Michio Kaku, who claimed in
an interview with Fox News that a solar peak in 2012 could be disastrous for orbiting
satellites.

Two top managers of the scandal-plagued Vatican bank resigned on Monday following the arrest of a high-ranking cleric with close ties to the financial institution, in the latest of a string of embarrassments for the Holy See.
Director Paolo Cipriani and deputy-director Massimo Tulli stepped down three days after the Vatican was rocked by the arrest of Monsignor Nunzio Scarano, who is accused of plotting with two other people to smuggle 20 million Euros into Italy from Switzerland.
As a private organization performing banking-like functions for religious institutions, the Institute is not subject to public scrutiny. Institute for Works of Religion - the Vatican's own offshore bank - has for years been allowing organized criminals, to launder money with impunity.

The US once produced capital to fund government. Now it takes capital from those who can use it to produce jobs, private capital for citizens, and a better standard of living and it uses it to support the addiction of those who made bad decisions in life and don't want to fix their own problems. I used to be a bleeding heart liberal, but all the bitching and moaning and finger pointing just turned me off after a while . Max Keiser has a funny way of wording it. Their credit junkies, and once your an addict, you need more. It's a sure fire way to lose sovereignty. What you are calling handouts is actually federal government pretty much swiping a credit (loan) card, and calling it a grant when they give the cash advance to a city. Believe me, this money is not free. Bill Still who made "The Money Masters" can tell you that. It's the countries biggest threat, I wanted to vote for Bill Still for pres.

Snowden "Considering Venezuela Asylum"
American journalist Glenn Greenwald says he believes former spy contractor Edward Snowden will soon seek refuge in Venezuela.

Glenn Greenwald, the American journalist who first published top-secret information on U.S. surveillance programmes using data leaked by former spy contractor Edward Snowden.
Speaking from his home in Rio de Janeiro, The Guardian blogger and columnist said he had spoken to Snowden about the fugitive's asylum plans via an encrypted online chat on Tuesday.

"There are news reports today that he has formally accepted the asylum offer from Venezuela. Whether those news reports are accurate or not, I don't want to comment on but, I think personally, just speaking for myself, that of the three options, that one seems like the more plausible."
Snowden, seen here speaking to The Guardian Newspaper, is wanted by the United States on espionage charges.
He is believed to be holed up in the transit terminal of Moscow's main airport, where he has been stuck for weeks after the U.S. voided his passport and threatened consequences for any country that offered the American refuge.
Greenwald says conversations with the wanted man have led him to believe Snowden's trove of National Security Agency documents are not in the hands of foreign governments.
Meanwhile, Venezuela's foreign minister said the contractor had not officially accepted his country's offer of asylum, as of Tuesday.
Radiation Rise at Fukushima say TEPCO
Tokyo Electric Power Co says radiation readings in underground water have risen at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant is under the spotlight once again.
Tepco, which runs the plant, is still dealing with damage from the earthquake and tsunami of 2011.
Now they say groundwater radiation levels have risen significantly in the last week.
The soaring radiation levels suggest highly toxic materials from the plant are now close to the Pacific Ocean.
Tepco has been flushing water over its reactors to keep them cool for more than two years, but contaminated water is building up at the rate of an Olympic-size swimming pool per week.
In April, Tepco sought approval to channel what it has described as 'groundwater with low levels of radiation' around the plant and to the sea.
Local fishermen oppose the proposal.

Since 1976, Marrs has taught a course on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy at the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1989, his book, Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy, was published and reached the New York Times Paperback Non-Fiction Best Seller list in mid-February 1992. It became a basis for the Oliver Stone film JFK. Marrs served as a chief consultant for both the film's screenplay and production,Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy.
Beginning in 1992, Marrs spent three years researching and completing a non-fiction book on a top-secret government program called the Stargate Project involving the psychic phenomenon known as remote viewing, only to have the program canceled as it was going to press in the summer of 1995. Within two months, the story of military-developed remote viewing broke nationally in the Washington Post after the CIA revealed the program.
In May 1997, Marrs' investigation of UFOs, Alien Agenda, was published by HarperCollins Publishers. Publishers Weekly described Alien Agenda as "the most entertaining and complete overview of flying saucers and their crew in years." The paperback edition was released in mid-1998. It has been translated into several foreign languages and become the top-selling UFO book in the world.
In early 2000, HarperCollins published Rule by Secrecy, which claimed to trace a hidden history connecting modern secret societies to ancient and medieval times.
