Breaking: Fireworks Explosion at Crowd of 10,000, 14 Wounded
July 4, 2013 - SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- An accident during a Fourth of July fireworks display in Simi Valley injured at least 14 people Thursday, according to Ventura County fire officials. The incident occurred at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Park located near East Los Angeles Avenue and Sterns Street around 9:30 p.m.
Police said fireworks accidentally detonated during the show.
The event, which was sponsored by the support of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District, was stopped immediately following the mishap.

Letters from Guantanamo Bay ~ inmate accuses US military of rape

In the letter obtained by Al Jazeera, Chekkouri describes being sexually assaulted by guards as they search him each time he leaves and returns to his cell in order to talk to his lawyer or his wife. And he says he is not the only one enduring this kind of treatment.
In response to the allegations, the Pentagon described Guantanamo guards as "some of the most professional, most heavily scrutinized guards on the planet" adding that "absurd accusations simply do not withstand intellectual rigor".
Inside Story Americas interviewed Cori Crider, the strategic director for Reprieve, a London-based legal action charity, who is also Chekkouri's attorney. She shared information on his life before he was taken to Guantanamo. According to Crider, Cherkkouri comes from a Sufi family in Morocco, but has not lived in Morocco in many years. He was a travelling student living abroad with his family across the Middle East and South Asia, and was living with his wife and brother in Afghanistan before the US invasion.
Chekkouri was arrested trying to flee the invasion. He has been cleared and awaiting release for a long time now, his lawyer said.
Crider said there is no intention to charge Chekkouri with an offense at any point, and she has tried to take his case to a judge. Chekkouri has done everything he can to pursue the legal avenues available to him, she said, adding that "Barack Obama's task force cleared him, yet still he is there".
Another letter from a Guantanamo detainee, Abdelhadi Faraj, was published on Huffington Post. Faraj is a Syrian national who has been in US custody since 2002. He was cleared for release by a US government inter-agency taskforce in 2010, but remains imprisoned at Guantanamo.
"It is not unusual for prison guards here to search prisoners' genital parts and their rectum 10 times in a single day. Daily, I am forced into a restraint chair, my arms, legs and chest tied down tight. Big guards grab my head with both hands. I feel like my skull is being crushed. Then, so-called nurses violently push a thick tube down my nostril. Blood rushes out of my nose and mouth. The nurses turn on the feeding solution full throttle. I cannot begin to describe the pain that causes," Faraj's letter says.
It continues: "Recently, a nurse brutally yanked out the force-feeding tube, threw it on my shoulder, and left the cell, leaving me tied down to the chair. Later, the nurse returned to the cell, took the tube off my shoulder and began to reinsert it into my nose. I asked him to cleanse and purify the tube first but he refused. When I later tried to complain to another nurse about the incident, the other nurse threatened to force the feeding tube up my rear, not down my nose, if I did not suspend my hunger strike."

BREAKING: Boy Run Over, Killed by July 4th Parade Float in Edmond, Oklahoma
EDMOND, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say a boy has died after he was run over by a float at the end of a Fourth of July parade in central Oklahoma.
Edmond Police Officer James Hamm says the boy was riding on a martial arts group's float at the city's LibertyFest parade on Thursday morning.
Hamm says the boy fell or got down from the float at the end of the parade and was struck by the same vehicle.
Authorities in Edmond, just north of Oklahoma City, didn't immediately release the names of the boy or the driver.
Hamm says the incident was an unfortunate, freak accident.

Breaking: Fourth of July parade rerouted as man fires 'dozens' of shots in downtown Bangor
July 4, 2013 - Officials in Bangor were forced to reroute a Fourth of July parade on Thursday as police and emergency crews responded to a man reportedly firing "dozens" of shots in the area where the event was scheduled to end. A statement from Bangor police on Thursday ordered spectators to stay out of the downtown area while officers responded to a "despondent person in an apartment there."
The Bangor Daily News reported that the man had fired "dozens of rounds." Photos tweeted by the Daily News showed officers in camouflage tactical gear, officers with their guns drawn, emergency vehicles and crime tape blocking the downtown area.
The Times Record later tweeted that police "have gagged social media images of shooter standoff in Bangor."
According to the Daily News, the last shots were heard at around 11:00 a.m. ET. As of 11:45 a.m., no additional gunfire had been detected, and there was no word on the status of the shooter.

Harry Dent is not one to shy away from predictions. Just take a quick look at some of the man's bibliography: he wrote The Great Boom Ahead in 1993 and followed it up with The Great Jobs Ahead in 1995. In 2009, he authored The Great Depression Ahead, and in 2011, The Great Crash Ahead.
Now, Dent, the economic forecaster perhaps best known for the use of demographics in his analysis, is predicting a big market crash this summer.
Dent told CNBC this afternoon:
We think markets are going to go up for a while. I think Maria [Bartiromo] is right – the market wants to go up.
We'll see one more correction into this second fiscal cliff. I think we'll see another rally into March, April, May, or something. By the summer, we get another crash.
I think it's going to be a choppy rally – up, down, up, down, with an upward bias. It's the second half that we think a crash starts – that, just like the last crash, lasts about a year and a half or so, goes into late 2014, early 2015.
We get a slight new high in the Dow this year, and then we get a slight new low in the next crash. That's been the pattern. Higher highs in each bubble, slightly lower lows in each crash.
Again, this should not be something that people go, "Oh my gosh, how could this happen?" It's been happening since 1995. Bubble, crash, bubble, crash, bubble, crash.

Happy 4th of July! Feds Establish Martial Law on Independence Day
It doesn't feel like the 4th of July as America discovers that 200 million of our citizens have been placed in a facial recognition database without our consent and even if we have never committed a crime. Anyone who has a driver's license, is in the data base.
It doesn't feel like the 4th of July when Obama's Executive Order 13603, the National Defense Resources Preparedness, grants the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense and other agencies complete control of all US resources, including the ability to seize, confiscate or re-delegate resources, materials, services, and facilities as deemed necessary or appropriate to promote the national defense. Obama has criminalized the storing of anything vital and can steal anything on your person or in your home.
It doesn't feel like the 4th of July when I know that under the NDAA, Obama's minions can snatch any of us off the street, without due process, for any reason or no reason at all.
It does not feel like the 4th of July when I know that Holder and Obama have proclaimed the legal authority to murder American citizens with drones.
It doesn't feel like the 4th of July when our traditional allies hate us for our government's criminal acts. The German government, the French government, the government of Ecuador and the entire EU have all decried this criminal administration's spying on their activities. In fact, every government in South America has scheduled an emergency meeting after authorities at the behest of the American government diverted the President of Ecuador's plane, refused the President the right air space and then searched the plane for Snowden.
It just doesn't feel like the 4th of July when it has been announced that we have we have Russian troops on our soil and will be participating in policing activities at public events.
And it really doesn't feel like the 4th of July when my sources tell me that soldiers from Latin American countries are practicing to invade the Gulf Region of the United States
It doesn't feel like the 4th of July when journalists, Michael Hastings and Andrew Breitbart can be murdered for exposing government corruption.
It doesn't feel like the 4th of July when Snowden proclaims that he will be murdered for exposing illegal activities by the NSA.
It doesn't feel like the 4th of July when time honored 4th of July celebrations, like the one on the Boston Commons will not allow any bags, cooking, drinks, sports, coolers and will subject revelers to invasive TSA type searchers and X-ray machines with the National Guard looking on. Similar restrictions are being put in place at the National Mall in Washington DC, Atlanta and Denver. It is ironic that celebrations to honor the holiday that once brought unprecedented freedom to our shores have now been reduced to police state training exercises.

In the first half, attorney Jonathan Emord offered updates on FDA issues, Monsanto & GMOs, and various controversies involving the Obama administration. In May, Senator Dick Durbin tried to amend the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act to include sweeping new powers for the FDA to regulate supplement companies, and potentially reduce consumers' access to supplements. At least for the short term, opposition appears to be strong for Durbin's proposal, Emord reported. The Senator has been an advocate for regulation across the board, "except when it comes to hammering the drug industry for its undue influence over the FDA," he noted, adding that pharmaceutical companies likely feel threatened by the supplement industry. At the same time, the FDA continues to approve drugs that may be unsafe such as Brisdelle, a menopause treatment, he remarked.
Emord drafted the first GMO labeling bill to become law in the US, in the state of Connecticut. While he's pleased with this breakthrough, an amendment to the law pushes back the start of the food labeling, until at least four other states pass a similar bill. Monsanto is fighting against such efforts, calling it a first amendment violation. He also discussed the politicization of the IRS in targeting conservative groups, NSA surveillance, and the poor record of President Obama in fulfilling transparency and honesty in government. Emord announced he'll be hosting a new radio show on the Genesis Communication Network starting July 22nd.

In the second half, independent UFO researcher David Marler talked about the phenomenon of triangular UFOs, dating as far back as the 1882, when "two triangular appearances" were spotted on the moon. One of the best of the more recent cases was a January 5th, 2000 sighting by various police officers in southern Illinois. One officer saw a silent elongated triangular object with large white lights make a flat turn, and disappear in a matter of seconds, and the craft was then observed by another officer in a different location. Some suggested that the craft was military as the sightings were near Scott AFB, but there were no reports of it taking off or landing there. Interestingly, a triangular aerial object seen in Alaska in 1936, was also suspected of being military in origin by witnesses, Marler noted.
In Denmark, there was a wave of triangular UFO sightings reported in local newspapers during 1957-8, and in one sighting by multiple witnesses, objects were seen emerging from the craft. A well documented incident took place on January 6th, 1995 outside of Manchester Airport, when a wedge-shaped object just missed the right wing of a 737 jet that was coming in for a landing. Though the pilots both filed reports, the investigation never reached any conclusions, Marler detailed. The Tinley Park sightings were also noteworthy, where hundreds of eyewitnesses leaving a concert saw lights in a triangular arrangement.
